Tout à la fois travail de terrain et de composition, oscillant entre field recording usant du microphone tel un instrument et recherche en studio, ce sont plusieurs mois de mise en forme qui permettent à l'artiste de parvenir à l'essentiel: trente minutes qui résument le cours de la journée d'un ouvrier. On assiste en effet à un cheminement, à partir du commencement, jusqu'à la trêve finale.
Enter, le labeur, et Shelter, l'abri, sont tous deux témoins d'un parti pris ; en capturant l'environnement sonore de l'usine, l'artiste donne voix aux sans-voix, mais se refuse à les faire parler. Le déplacement physique est ici porteur d'un sens politique, en ceci que l'immersion tient lieu de tissage, s'inscrit dans une historicité.
Working at the same time on field recording - using the microphone as an instrument - and composition in studio, several months of shaping were necessary to reach the essential, for the artist to create an original piece summarising a worker’s day. It’s a path, from the beginning to the final truce.
Enter and Shelter are both about the artist’s choice : by capturing the sound environment of the factory, he gives voice to the voiceless, without making them speak. This physical encounter has a political meaning, the immersion weaves the oeuvre into a historicity.
